The Obligatory Intro...

In India, they say “Make sure you start something new on an auspicious day” and I guess it’s ironic that I’m starting my first ever blog on April Fool’s Day!

So this being the pilot episode into my world of self-musings, I think I should get down to introducing myself first.

Yours truly, Reshma Peter, hails from the beautiful, busy (and the extremely humid) city of Cochin in South India. Having lived in multiple cities within and outside India, I find it essentially hard to pinpoint a place I call home. I guess home is where the heart is, after all. I am currently doing my Masters in Ophthalmology and will complete my training soon.

So one might ask……why a blog???
Well because everyone is doing it!!!!! And that’s not a bad reason at all.
But I think the bigger reason would be the realization that I COULD DO THIS.
Triggered by doing all those practice IELTS essays, it suddenly dawned on me that maybe all those countless essays I had to write in school and the fact that I would grab and read every book I could get my hands on and how that 30 page story I wrote in middle school lay unappreciated in my teacher’s cupboard…..all of that had a point.

All of us start out as babies, essentially empty canvasses. And somehow life happens and we tend to embrace certain paths and goals as we grow up and somewhere without realizing we lose little bits of ourselves. And here I am, counselling a 45 year old gentleman on how to take his medications and doing microscopic eye surgeries for 70 year olds and yet filled with the realization that I had stopped doing the things that made me ME - reading for leisure, dancing for the love of it, trying to write random short stories that turn into never ending novels, solving math puzzles for fun. And now that I have some time on my hands, I’m trying to regain some parts of me that I seem to have lost.

Pen is mightier than the sword and we live in times where people use this power left right and center to insult, degrade and destroy the morale of countless number of people on social media and otherwise. So it’s always a great idea to armor yourself, so that you know, if the need arises, your voice has a platform where it can be heard, despite the haters.

So is this blog going to be about dark and political issues? Is it going to be a debate on the current hot topics? Or is it going to be about the food I eat or my wedding shenanigans ??? Maybe …maybe  not because these are just my musings at 3 am.

Stay tuned !
Much love to all.
Pray hard, Work harder as things can only get Better!!
Thanks for joining me!
